High performance heat exchangers
- Asvotec starts to manufacture a new generation of high performance heat exchangers whose first batch with 14 equipment will be addressed to the Oil Platform – P72 and a second batch of 20 equipment will be delivered to the Oil Platform – P73.
Asvotec started the new partnership with the English company Heatric, subsidiary of the company Meggitt, with the manufacturing of two pilots of PCHEs (Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger) in 2015. The European company is the newest partner for Asvotec for its customers' portfolio, and its products become one of the pillars for keeping the factory load in 2016.
In January/2016, Asvotec started the manufacturing of 14 Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE’s), which will be applied in the pre-salt oil fields of Petrobras. Following, it will be made the manufacturing of 20 PCHEs for the P-73, with deadline for end of this year.
For the general director, Mr. Christian Mader, the new partnership denotes a historical moment for Asvotec, giving a technology leap forward in the special welding areas for duplex and super duplex stainless steels. These steels are mainly utilized in industries by matching corrosion resistance and high level mechanics, in typical environments for offshore operations (services at sea on oil platforms and ships) and onshore (services in industries located on land). “Our professionals have to be skilled, careful and trained", said the director.
The CEO said that the negotiations with Heatric were quite intense, in special in relation to the technical qualification, and he also praised the partnership culture of the English company, which looked for a long term supplier in Brazil. Asvotec carried out a series of investments for the new technology, among them welding machines, factory suitability such as overhead cranes and radiography bunker, several instruments and devices. Thus, it showed its skills and it also won customer's reliability and project. The prototype was manufactured in three months.
Mr. Donizete Ziccatt (project management), who integrated the training team in England in 2015 states that current time addresses for a new era of heat exchangers which weigh less, take up less space in the platforms and have better performance in operation compared with traditional shell and tube heat exchangers.
Press release published in 2013 on the site www.gov.uk informed that the company Heatric has won an £80 million contract to supply high performance compact Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers (PCHEs) to the Brazilian national oil and gas company, Petrobras. These PCHEs will be used on Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSOs) units, deployed to the pre-salt oil fields, on the Brazilian coast.
