Asvotec meets Petrobras with unprecedented skid project
Seven meters length by 1,80 width and 1,80 height. The skid size built for the transportation of tubular bundles made for Petrobras, in Macaé, gives a dimension of the challenge conquered by Asvotec. It is the first time that the company develops this kind of equipment. “It was a new experience. Until now used to sell the bundles and Petrobras by itself bought the skid from other manufacturer. This time they decided to buy all of them together”, tells Sebastião Lopes (Production).
Two skids were developed for the transportation of tubular bundles. One of them was already delivered and the other is in final assembly. This part ensures the necessary safety in order the bundles are not damaged during the transportation to the Petrobras platform. After the bundles are disassembled, the skids are in the praxis disposed, since they are tailor-made.
At the beginning, Sebastião remembers that the project seemed to be simple, but soon they found that the process would require several requirements established in technical standards. “We had difficulties in finding the material. The welding step required a lot of knowledge and abilities and several tests were performed in order to ensure the parts' quality", remembers Sebastião.
José Guilherme Marini (Boiler Shop) tells that the development of skids involved approximately 30 collaborators. There was an intense training work. “Each welder who worked in this project received a special qualification. It was a very hard period to train and qualify all the involved team”, comments Marini.
In spite of the project requirements which required qualification and training of teams, the skids were consolidated in a short period of time. The first part lasted about two months to be ready. Won the challenge, the team is even more prepared to reach new goals. “Now our staff has large abilities to perform any similar project”, explains Marini.
